I finished this on the last day of 2022 and ordered the guided journal the very next day. I loved the profound but simple ideas in this title that does, indeed, provide a soulful practice for decision making. Freeman's voice is kind and honest, and she gives so many practical questions and activities to try in order to find more confidence in making decisions. If you're in any time of transition (aren't we all?) and you're a Christian (although I can see these practices applying to others as well), I highly recommend this book.
I really thought that this book was helpful to my spiritual journey with God. I liked the advice a lot and really enjoyed the prayers that were in the book too. I’m fascinated with Emily’s writing and hope to read more from her soon.
The Next Right Thing is a book that is a beautiful mix of practical and inspiring. If you’re looking for someone to help you make pro and con lists and be certain you are making the wise choices, look elsewhere. If you are looking for someone to help you ask the right questions and dig deep into spiritual practices that will help you be certain you are engaging the process of discernment well, stick around Freeman’s book or podcast for a while.
I want assurance I’m doing the right thing. Instead, over and over again I am getting the assurance that I’m looking at the right person to guide me. Freeman helps you ask the right questions and find the stillness you need to listen for the answers.

This is my first introduction to Emily's writing but it won't be my last. I have had some of her previous books on my to read pile for awhile and after reading this one, I am going to make sure to read the others super soon! This book is full of practical and prayerful steps to figuring out your next decision whatever it may be. Emily breaks up the wisdom she shares into easy to follow chapters and includes great quotes throughout the book. A very quick easy to follow read with lots of great insight. Definitely recommend this book!

Taking the time to pause and read Emily's latest book, The Next Right Thing, will be the best decision you make this year. She has a unique way of writing that whispers directly to your soul and this book is no exception. It's unputdownable-until-you're-finished-good.

When I first picked up this book, I was expecting a manual of sorts on decision making. When I found more references to Jesus and scripture than I ordinarily would have been comfortable with, I attempted to read through the religious aspects because I liked the author’s writing and way of thinking. But, I wasn’t ready. I set it aside for nearly two years. It still sat on my “books in progress” list because I wasn’t ready to give up either. Then, a couple weeks ago, I picked it up again. I don’t particularly have major life decisions weighing me down at the moment, but I’m still glad I revisited this book. Aren’t we making decisions every single day? I was ready for Emily P Freeman’s style of spiritual guidance this time around. And, that’s really what this book is. Yes, guidance that certainly pertains to major life decisions ... and also the little decisions we make every day.
What a great way to provide practical spiritual advice! I am not in a big decision making phase of life but am thankful to have these tools to be better prepared for my next big decision. I especially like that Emily points it all back to God!

WOW! What an amazing book. I feel like “book” is too loose of a term for the goodness that is within the pages. This is a Godly-life resource that arrived in my life at the most wonderful and unexpected time. I listened to the audiobook (narrated by Emily) and I felt as if I were listening to my best friend, mom, therapist, pastor, self-esteem, and the person I want to be, all wrapped up into one. I will most CERTAINLY be re-listening to this book AND purchasing a physical copy!
I’ve already made time in my calendar to go back and listen to each chapter and align it with a specific week—so I can begin a 7-day block with the understanding of my own life and make intentional time to apply the guidance and appreciate the prayer at the end of each chapter.
