This book is so, so good; I recommend it to any Christian who struggles with indecision and decision fatigue, especially creative people.
After nearly each chapter, I had to stop and think about all the truth in them for a few minutes or days to let it sink in before continuing.
I definitely want to read other books by this author at some point.

If you've never listened to Emily P. Freeman's podcast, The Next Right Thing, you might want to start. If you are a faithful listener as I am, you are in for a treat. The Next Right Thing: A Simple, Soulful Practice for Making Life Decisions are like words floating in your ear, whispering to your heart, asking you to trust yourself and to be your truest self as you make YOUR next right decision. As I read this book, it was as if Emily somehow had a window into my life and the patience to sit with me as I churned through all the thoughts in my head over and over again. This book couldn't have come at a more serendipitous time in my life -- and I know it will be a book I will be coming back to over and over again. Emily and her words are a gift to us all.

Reading this book is like having a personal counselor speaking into your life. It guides and points you in the direction of finding what your next right thing is. Each chapter contains a beautiful prayer and something you can do as you are discovering your next right thing.

A book that was exactly what I needed.

I received an ARC of this book. I really enjoyed it and read it quickly since much of the content is pulled directly from the author’s podcast of the same name, which I binge listened to in January. It’s a book about clearing headspace to get unstuck to make good decisions. It’s written from a Christian perspective and is heavy on that, so just beware if that is something you connect with or not.

I love how down to earth Emily Freeman is in her books. She doesn't overcomplicate Christianity as some authors do, or look down on people for their flaws. Her book is an excellent read for the chronically hesitant, sufferers of decision fatigue, and those in transitional places in their lives. I greatly enjoy and treasure her advice and would recommend listen to her podcast, "The Next Right Thing" as well.

Synopsis: “What is one next right thing you can do today? Because that’s all you can do anyway. You can only do one thing at a time.” As a Christian, sometimes the topic of God’s will seems like this nebulous idea that we just can’t figure out. Do the Next Right Thing dives deep into decision making by helping us to learn to keep it simple. With practical steps such as naming the unnamed and becoming a soul minimalist, Emily Freeman walks us through ways to help us make the hard choices when we just can’t figure out what the best choice is.

Analysis: Raise your hand if you’ve ever had to make a decision 🙋🏻‍♀️ (hint: your hand should be up!) We make thousands of choices every day, but what about those big decisions? This is where this book comes in. With a Christian perspective, conversational tone, and practical advice, I loved all of the ideas that Emily Freeman presented in this book. She broke down the decision making process into one simple step: do the next right thing. And she helps you with ideas on how to figure out exactly what that is! (Another hint: it’s not as complicated as you think 😉) Whether or not you’re in the process of making a big decision right now, this is one you’ll want to add to your keep forever bookshelf.
