This is decent for a romantasy book on Kindle Unlimited, but it’s not enough for me to continue the series. The world and the magic aren’t well-defined, though the setting is interesting.

To say I loved this book would be an understatement. I hate writing to much in my reviews and try to avoid spoilers because i personally love going into books blind. But, think 1920's mafia vibes with magic. It is amazing.
I am SO glad that the second book comes out this Wednesday because waiting any longer will drove me insane.

I cackled so much reading this book. Camila and Nicolai are perfection!! She is so charming for someone with literally no friends hahahah Love her so much! A true boss! She really looked at the magical world around her and said...bullet and science will get me through
Her brothers are garbage. With a family like that you do not need one single enemy. Nicolai was so funny. He really got way more than he bargained for in this arranged marriage. Him and that wallet were put to work! Cousin Esme is the best character in this book. A girl's girl!
Even though their families are "enemies", I still would hesitate to use the enemy to lovers title. The families just really go body for body and honestly, it's such a lose lose. The world and plot are a bit messy to get through, but I still want to see how their story ends!

Camilla and Nico - train heiress marriage of convenience to gangster magic user in 20s-esque gaslamp scene. Magic users are oppressed. Plot with magic users vs non-magic users and system of magic underdeveloped. Liked Camilla and Nico's relationship. Good tension-building in relationship. 1 ESS. Main thing I liked was unique 20s-like world.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this, but I really enjoyed the tone of the story (very Peaky Blinders) and the tension between Camilla and Nico. I knew right away who Nico was in relation to Camilla and while they are on opposite sides of the track (pun intended?), I liked their slow-burn. I liked how Camilla was brought into a family that treated her much better than her own brothers, but I really liked how Camilla stood up for herself, especially against Nico. Nico took a little longer for me and part of that is me as the reader trying to figure out how things were going to go with them because Nico clearly cares for her and pretends to not for a portion of the book.
On that note, while the tone, tension, and the end stuck with me...I realized that most of the story didn't really stick as well. It might be because the plot wasn't moving as quickly as it could for the story and it focused, in ways, on Camilla's and Nico's budding relationship and them each figuring out their family situation, but since I'm writing this review almost 10 days later...sometimes you get a less "reactionary" review and more of a "reflective" review. I'm looking forward to reading the second book and I can guarantee it's all to do with their relationship more than the cliffhanger we got. Which, speaking of the end...That end was ACTION-PACKED and things happened and then the very last part...Phew. I need to know how Nico figures it out. So, say what you will about the middle of the book not sticking as much for me, but the end was really impactful for the story.

I really loved this book. It was a peaky blinders/ fantastic beasts vibe. I loved both the FMC and MMC. It was a slow burn, enemies to lovers trope, which I loved! It did take me a little bit to get into the book, but by the end I could not put the book down!
