It feels more like a folktale than a novel at times- it's beautiful, and bleeds nature and landscape in each word. Very dark themes- again I have chosen a deely horrible time to read this in my life (rip to betty and my dark vanessa) but it was engrossing all the same

finished the book and had to stare out the window for 20 minutes to process

betty felt extremely personal to my appalachian roots and was a beautiful and heartbreaking story of family

10/10 would recommend, and look up trigger warnings

This book is a LOT. It’s very well written and the audiobook is very well done. The content is at times difficult to get through.
