A tense, thrilling, and often grotesque exploration of horror in both the literal and the more subtle, discomfiting sense. Atmospheric, has great build-up and pacing, and ends in a satisfying and very fitting way. Absolutely take note of the trigger warnings.

The men in this book were so frustrating I had to keep reading in the hopes of being rewarded with them getting what they deserved.

What happened to Slick, Patricia’s suicide attempt, and that 3 year skip, gave me tons of pause. These could have been handled better in my opinion.

Screw you James, and your mint Milano cookies. You were an absolute villain.

A really compelling read, but it was too painful to read all the gaslighting happening to Patricia.

The first few chapters of this book are a bit mundane & I was honestly dreading having to finish it. Now I’m starting to wonder if that’s exactly what the author was going for based on the characters. Once it picks up, boy does it PICK UP! You’ll go through a roller coaster of emotions all the while being kept on your toes. I highly recommend everyone reading it!

Frightening and gross at times as to be expected but also moving and insightful.

I have no idea how Grady Hendrix writes women so well….it was weird to read some of it knowing a man wrote it, when my main feeling about men coming out of this book was disgust.

I love female friendship, sisterhood, and camaraderie!!!

I found the whole scene in which the women were ambushed and belittled by all of their husbands, collectively, all because those men love money more than their families, to be so infuriating I had to scream about it.
Carter was just awful and im so so so glad that Patrice finally divorced him! I was hooting and hollering for her the whole time.
