This book is a quick read and great for fans of Twilight. Some of it did remind me quite heavily of Twilight, which wasn’t my favourite as I wanted more originality, but it does have additional layers of mystery and twists. It was quite a slow build, in my opinion, to the main action of the book. I would have liked to see more action tied to the book’s main twist and adventure earlier. I did enjoy reading this, but likely won’t continue with the series.

3.5 stars.

This was a good YA fantasy book. The first half was really just setting up the world and hadn’t really dived into the fantasy but once we got into the fantasy, it became really fast paced. It was Insta love, but it was enjoyable to read. If you’re a fan of twilight, or the vampire academy series, I think the series would be a good book for you to pick up. I loved the boarding school setting.

I typically don't read much YA, but I enjoyed this! Not life changing, but a pleasant read with a unique world within the pages.

The storyline might have been worth seeing through to the next book if the writing wasn’t so painfully awful.

I saw these books at target and just assumed they would be good, but I certainly should’ve done more research. This 592 page book takes place in ONE WEEK, and the plot is so cringe it was difficult to get through. Nevertheless, I will be reading the rest of the series with Rachel for the fun of it.
