Thank you to the author for providing a review copy.

It is extremely hard to review this book without spoilers, but I'm going to try. For those of us who are neurospicy, this is a tough read. It definitely kept me on my toes, never quite going the way I thought it would. Life Support is emotionally searing and beautifully written - I couldn't believe it's a debut novel. This was my first Elton Skelter and I'm excited to read more. 4.25 stars

This was excellent. My partner recommended this to me a while ago, and I was working through my backlog/some arcs and quite frankly one I had to DNF because it got gross. This one however was a good break from that. The characters are well written, the story is very coherent, keeps moving and has a great pace. It's also one of those books where it gets wild, then everything makes sense in the end. You do get a sense of how people with some of these disorders might navigate life, and it's really a great reminder that they are people too. I did however guess the twist during a dog walk haha. But either way, worth your time and money. It gets surreal and sometimes that's okay. It made me appreciate myself a little more and made me realize we are all... sometimes not okay, and that's okay. Bravo, Elton! Bravo.

My jaw hit the floor at LEAST three times.

Look, I'm no stranger to crazy horror plot twists...but Life Support blindsided me so many times. This book starts out pretty nuts and just runs from there. I LOVED it.

As wild as the plot gets, this book has heart. I ended my read with some unexpectedly conflicting feelings. On one hand, wow. Life Support excels at shock value and horror. On the other hand, this book gave me a lot to ponder about how I view mental illness. For a work of fiction, Life Support raises the very real question "how ill is too ill?" In other words, where is the line between over-normalizing pathology versus over-pathologizing variants in behavior and perception? The characters blur the line in a way I haven't seen before.

Heads up, this book includes a list of content warnings at the beginning: Violence, death, suicidal ideation, dismemberment, incidental cannibalism, altered mental states/ mental health crises, drug and alcohol misuse, sexual assault, self-harm, institutional abuse, implied homophobia.

Thank you so much for the chance to check out this ARC for free. I'm leaving this review of my own accord.
