Katerina has stepped up her steam game in Dusk Stalker. Besides the sizzling encounters, we are also dropped little hints about who the Horseman is, as well as get a bomb dropped about Six, herself. And Azlu's character is also expanded on. So many twists, and hints of series crossovers. I love it when my favourite characters make cameos! I just loved it!

Dusk Stalker is book two in Katerina Martinez is book two in her The Devil of Harrowgate series. This book picks up where book one left off with Six finding herself alone. Her contact in the prison has gone missing and she’s presuming that he has been killed. The Warden has made an appearance directly with her to let her know that he’s watching her. The Horseman has his own issues, too. Someone is out to kill him…and they are using his own weapons against him. Six was supposed to kill him herself, but finds that she can’t…and her feelings for him only continue to grow. Where are things going to lead them and what dangers are ahead that they will have to face in order to stay alive…and together?
Dusk Stalker is a good addition to the series, but the pace does slow down a bit in spots. I know that not everything is going to be fast-paced drama and edge of your seat thrills, but I was a bit disappointed that the storyline gets a bit…ponderous in places. I love the author gives me some serious twists with this book. I’m eager to learn more about a particular one that really leaves Six rattled in more ways than one. I can’t tell what it is because that’d spoil the surprise, but it really had me on the edge of my seat and eager for a second visitation.
For those who are eager for more romance between Six and the Horseman…get ready because we get a nice dose of steamy! I LOVED it!! It was soooo good and the author doesn’t go overboard who enjoy steamy scenes without all the graphic details. I like that things are developing between the two of them, but at the same time I question…where is this really going? He’s the Horseman…the head of the prison in reputation if not name/actual authority. She is an inmate of the prison. So…where can this go? Where will things go?
I’m eager to learn more about the Horseman. There is a particular scene where he interacts with a mysterious character and I want to know who/what it is and how it came to be in his debt. Are there others like it? The Horseman is shrouded in mystery and I’d love to explore that and learn more about him. I did get a bit annoyed with him though in this book. His arrogance at times irritates me. His superior behavior/mentality is going to get him in a bad situation soon than later and I’m worried he won’t be able to get out of it.
I am rating this book 4.5 out of 5 stars. The twist at the end of this book had my jaw dropping and me practically yowling to know what happens next. It’s so unexpected and I absolutely love it. The pace for this book was a bit of a downer for me as I felt I had to push to move through them, but the effort was always well rewarded by an engaging scene that followed or a twist that I didn’t see coming. If you have read the previous book in this series and enjoyed it then I encourage you to pick this book up and read what happens next.
