Reminds me a lot of hunger games mixed with some magic. Very fantast driven - not spicy, but there is tension between the two main characters.

It felt very much a rehash of Hunger Games with a few tweaks added in but I still loved the fast paced book and the characters. Also enjoyed reading it from both POV at the same time with chapters switching between Paedyn and Kai.

I do feel there is a bit of the background missing eg more on the origin of the trials, origin of powers etc. May be covered in later books, maybe not. But still a good bit of escapism.

I started reading this book a long time ago, but then life happened and it got lost somewhere among other things... and I regret it bad!

The writing isn't perfect (it feels a bit amateurish at times - I vividly remember one scene where I was counting how many more hands Kai could have) but let's not forget that this is Lauren Roberts' first book.

I love this story: I love the setting, I love the twisted games, I love Kai and Paedyn, and I love the undeniable love they have for each other. I hate Kitt! And I hated him since the beginning of the story.

But that ending... that ending will be the death of me!

Dual pov story of the main characters, they really complement eachother. Very good pace throughout the story. Love the teasing between the main characters, you feel the tension growing. Can't wait to read the next book. There is a lot of fighting so read the content warnings.

This book pulled from so many tropes and other book series.
The first third was very similar to elements of hunger games.

I actually enjoyed the main characters and romance a lot and was very invested by the end.

I did find the writing to be a bit juvenile and distracting at times. The writer used a lot of the same phrases and adjectives throughout.

Will still definitely be getting the next one asap.
