I loved the glimpses of other Safenverse characters, from references to how Damon and Maddox met, to Oscar and Lance's scandal, to Brady's partners and mentions of the rest of the Talon-Millers.
This book was a lot of bonding and longing, wanting and wishing, but seemed to skip over the dating and falling. Before any actual dating or love realizations, Thad (a name I hate, by the way; it's short for Theodore, why not go by Theo?) moves across the country for the chance to date Kelley. They seemed to get their happily ever after in the wrong place. I wish the book had been 50-100 pages longer, and they had a chance to deepen their relationship first. Overall, a cute romance, but kind of a strange pacing/ending.

I was ready to dnf and hate Thad, but by chapter 5 I had forgiven him and Eden lol.

This quickly jumped up to the top of my favorites by Eden because it meshed in this universe in such a perfect way. I think it might be the first mm book that I’ve really felt the mental health impact so vividly and I loved that.

We first meet Thad and Kelly in Can't Say Goodbye. Thad is angry, bitter, and trying to come to terms with not making it to major league baseball while interning yo become a sports agent. Kelly is an anxious MLB pitcher who's worried he just tanked his career by coming out. So obviously, Thad resents Kelly for acting like a diva and not appreciating what he has.
There's banter, spice, a road to emotional support, and did Brady really manage to keep his relationship a secret in the Catskills?
I love Eden Finley's storytelling, and it's always fun to see familiar characters pop up again.

The characters were fine. He was such an asshole for no reason. Their chemistry was not fully made but it was a cute idea.
