Eden’s new series starts with a bang, or better - a scowl. Thad, whose dreams of going pro in sports didn’t come true, decides to become a sports agent with our very own and beloved Damon King at King Sports. One of his first assignments is to babysit a young man who of all things is a pro in Baseball, the very sport Thad hadn’t made it in. Cue the scowling…
Kelley, said professional, needs supervision due to his recent coming out and the subsequent reaction online. But things are not quite like they seem…
Their story is hot (of course 😂) yet so tender and sweet. We also get to meet Brady and his two men and it is glorious ❤️
Perfect start for this new series

“My actual blanket might feel suffocating, but with Thad on top of me, I’ve never breathed easier in my life.”
(ENG) Finally, the series we've all been waiting for has arrived! Those of us who read Can't Say Goodbye already had an idea of where the plot would go. Even so, it's a book that can be read and enjoyed without having read any of the Sadenverse.
The story follows Thad and Kelley, who have a rocky start to their relationship. However, living together forces them to realize they're not as different as they thought. The plot spans several months, allowing us to see how their bond develops.
Both characters are just the sweetest. It's so lovely to see how they help each other to grow, and they make a truly beautiful couple to read about.
I have to say, I don't know anything about softball, so I found the scenes where it's the main focus a bit long. They did distract me a bit from the reading, and I'm afraid that lowered my rating a little.
I really enjoyed seeing Damon and Brady take part in the story.
A great start to the series that has me looking forward to the next book already (and I'm going to reread Fakeboyfriends!).

I absolutely loved this book! The open communication between Thad and Kelley was such a highlight, especially once Thad finally got his act together. As someone who deals with anxiety myself, I really appreciated how Kelley's struggles were portrayed. It was heartwarming to see Thad become so in tune with his feelings—it not only made him a better partner but also a future agent who truly understands what someone in that situation needs.
Can't Say Goodbye is one of my all-time favorites, so getting to revisit the story from a different perspective and reconnect with Brady and his crew was a total treat. I definitely recommend reading Can't Say Goodbye before diving into The Backup Plan; it’ll make your reading experience so much more enjoyable!

"I would do anything to escape the hundreds of little thoughts that are constantly running through my head." - Kelly
"I’m your safe place. Somewhere you can be yourself and take what you need. So, what do you need?" - Thad
At first it looked like they were so different but when they got to know each other, they had more in common than they thought. Thad was judgmental at first and that wasn't without a reason, he had to work though his feelings to become good at his job. But when Kelly and Thad really talked, Thad saw Kelly and created a safe place where he could be himself. Thad helped him with his anxiety and mental health struggles in his own way. They made it work, they did it! It's a beautiful book that wasn't focused on a relationship or dating but this was their story and it was easy to read, I felt seen and I'm excited to see that will happen in the next book. This was also my first book by this author and I'm definitely going to read more by Eden Finley in the future!

I’m so happy to be back in this world! I loved Thad’s and Kelley’s story, and how they grew close together. The anxiety rep was amazing, it really described the feeling well. The hopelessness when it hits was so real. I loved the support that Thad gave, and the rest of the team as well. So, so good!

THE BACKUP PLAN is the first book in the King Sports series. King Sports is a spin off from Sadenvers where Damon King is mentioned so much. I love that King Sports is finally getting it's own series. If you've read Can't Say Goodbye, then you've already had a glimpse of Thad and Kelly.
All Thad wanted to do was play baseball. But when push came to shove he just didn't have what it took to make it in the MLB. He has a lot of feelings about not making it but becoming an sports agent will keep him involved in sports. Its a great plan until he has to work directly with Kelley Afton, hotshot rookie pitcher for Philly who recently came out. Thad is asked to essentially babysit Kelly from looking at social media and googling himself. Thad is bitter. Bitter that this man who has everything Thad wants is being such a diva.
Kelly's anxiety is crippling. He knows he's shouldn't care what other people think but he can't help himself. Kelly and Thad's interactions start off very bad. Kelly not understanding why Thad feels the way he does and Thad having no idea how bad Kelly's anxiety is. When Thad finally gets his head out of his butt and takes a minute to finally understand Kelly he learns so much about Kelly and himself.
Kelly and Thad have such chemistry between them. I loved seeing how they slowly became friends then more. Thad was able to become a better would be agent and Kelly was finally about to be himself and just let go when he was with Thad.
I cannot wait for more in this series. Damon King as been one of my favorite characters and to see him again and again makes me so happy.
I was given a free copy of this book to read and review from Foreward PR.

A pesar de muchas escenas innecesarias sobre Baseball y que le faltó un poquito de 🔥, debo admitir que me gustó.
“I don't seem to have a professional side when it comes to Kelley. If I'm not insulting him, I'm waiting to have sex with him”
Si no fuese que Brady ya tiene su historia, me encantaría leer un poco más de sus interacciones con Damon como jefe 😂

Great start to a new series! While this is a new series, it's so connected to previous series that you really should read the Fake Boyfriends series and Can't Say Goodbye first (well you should read the whole Sadenverse, but those are the most relevant books to this one). I loved getting to see Damon as an awesome boss and Brady on his way to his hea.
I always love a story where the MCs hate each other at first and one they get to know each other more, realize that they totally jumped to the wrong conclusions. That's exactly what we have in this story. Once they learn a bit more and their misconceptions are corrected, they start to really like each other, but other things (Thad's job) keep them apart. The solution to their problems seems so obvious, but I guess it only does to readers who know what an awesome guy Damon is and Thad has no way to really know that yet.
