The Backup Plan

Eden Finley

4.09 AVERAGE

I feel as if I’ve been waiting years for this book and it did not disappoint! I love silver-fox Damon and I love the trust and responsibility he gives hie people with the understanding knowledge that if they break that trust, that’s where he draws the line. Thad and Kelley immediately didn’t get along but when Brady sneaks off to be with his boyfriends, they’re forced to make peace.

Reasons I Recommend:

1) Love how well both Thad, Brady, and Zaka support Kelley’a anxieties and work to help him any way they can

2) Damon’s snark with Brady about people with his last name not always being the centre of attention and his general camaraderie and banter with Brady and

3) The sweetness of Thad in taking care of his family and how he doesn’t hesitate when Damon gives him a chance.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Already can’t wait for the next one in which I suspect Damon will not be impressed (and hopefully more Lane)

This quickly jumped up to the top of my favorites by Eden because it meshed in this universe in such a perfect way. I think it might be the first mm book that I’ve really felt the mental health impact so vividly and I loved that.

And more stupid boys that think they’ll never fall in love?? Sign me up ✍

Thad and Kelley just got added to my roster of favorite Sadenverse characters… But that kind of includes almost all of them. (Cue crying face!) Thad is going through it. He’s coming to terms with the loss of his MLB dreams and accepting his backup career as a sports agent while dealing with conflicts at every turn. He has family drama coming out his ears, lacks the funds to save himself, and now has to deal with Kelley, a client who seemingly has everything Thad wanted with his MLB career and still needs a babysitter. Thad soon discovers there is more to Kelley than what he assumed was narcissism. Kelley, for his part, is so easy to love. His anxiety may be all-consuming, but he really does need an enforced SM break. When Thad realizes the extent to which Kelley’s life is affected by the feedback loop of comments and anxiety it brings, he works hard to help him reframe the way he looks (or doesn’t look) at content. Kelley is the catalyst for Thad stepping into his actual ‘backup plan’ role at King Sports and embracing the life he’s claiming for himself. Their steam and tension and the way they step up for each other is every dang thing, especially when there is so much they will face as individuals and together. The cameos of Damon and Brady and his men are BONUSES you cannot live without. If this is the start to this series, I cannot wait to see where we’re headed, because the teases promise so much fire on the horizon.
