I'm not sure what the point of this book was. I guess basically it boils down to old money people are snobs who hate everyone but themselves - you can't break into that circle even if you sleep with them, or have your own money and try to buy their affection. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I never read this book in highschool, but I'm kinda glad I didn't. Reading it now was so interesting and Nick compels me as a character, he's a genuinely nice guy who wants the people in his life to be cared for and he's well aware of the class divide between him and his friends. The dialogue is very witty and well crafted and the imagery is spectacular. Though this novel does come from a different time (some of the characters and stereotypes are uncomfortable to read) I think it's well worth the journey to reach the end.
Better than the movie and that’s also good. Overall not much to say short story worth reading paints a nice picture in a short time old sport
