Why is Mr Darcy so popular as a romantic figure? What an ass. No thanks.

My review for this was always going to be five stars. My journey on reading it was always going to be to the track of the film Pride and Prejudice but with the visuals of the BBC series.
This book has altered me in a similar fashion as the show had when my mother would play it to me as a baby and well into my teenage years. She was determined for me to enjoy it, to live by it, as if it was the holiest story to learn about.
It left such a violent impression on my youth and journey into adulthood that its effects cannot be understated.

Someday soon, when I am not on holiday, I shall write a bigger review, if not another essay on the novel. I am forever indebted to Austen.

I can appreciate the social commentary through the films and community discourse.

I absolutely loved this classic novel! I thought that the plot moved along fairly quickly, with quite a bit of action to keep the reader engaged. I also loved the depiction of the time period and the independence of the women in this story, despite the gender inequality at the time. The writing was something that take a bit of time to get used to; however, it was very enjoyable! I would definitely recommend this classic to read!

I will forever love Mr. Darcy. Jane Austen knew what she was doing.
