This book was good and long, and despite it being really good I can’t give it a full 5 stars, it’s just not something that I can see myself picking up to read multiple times. Though in a few years after I’ve forgotten some of the details I may reach for it again. There was some lag in the beginning, and even though I was never not enjoying the story, I was finding it a little difficult to pick up after a long day at work. It was when stuff really started to go wrong within the compound that I found myself hooked and I love a long journey! This was really character driven and I loved it, all the characters were so human, they were amazingly written. It’s a fantastic book and I’m looking forward to picking up the next book, once I decompress from this one, though I do know that there will be new focal characters which makes me nervous but I have faith in the author’s writing.

Finished a solid book

I didn’t know much going into this book. I didn’t read reviews, I only read the summary and it piqued my interest. I’m so glad I didn’t have an outside opinions because I do tend to read reviews before starting a book.

It took me a handful of pages to get into, but once I did, I had to know what was happening to these characters.

When getting to the next phase of the book, I was a little sad because I didn’t want to let go of what story I was just reading. However, I quickly formed attachments to the characters presented. It’s a long book, but everything added serves a purpose. The prose and descriptions are well done. The third person point of views for each character are perfect.

I am looking forward to reading the second book. Highly recommend.

It's a massive book but it was so worth to read it!
I can't really describe what feeling i have about it just that through the whole book you have all the feels!
And in the end I+m just overwhelmed from the book!

I was torn between 3 and 4 stars, but decided to err on the side of 4 because I have been recommending this book to people and I usually don't do that if I just "liked" it. It's also a very long book and I don't finish long books unless I think they're more than okay.

I'm also hesitant about my rating because this book is the first in a trilogy and the last two parts have yet to come out (part two is supposed to be out in October), and my opinion will really form when I see how everything turns out. It's a good story and it's been filled out a lot more than I think other similar stories are, which is a plus. I have so many unanswered questions, though, and hope the rest of the trilogy answers them all.

I'm not a vampire fan. Read about one third of the book.
