The Passage

A real page-turner, but I thought the characters needed some work. Particularly with an epic book like this that spans a large time period, you want to spend more time getting to know the people you're sharing your journey with. Disappointing ending as well. Read THE STAND!

3.5 I think? This book was exciting, and interesting, and well written. But good Lord was it long. And I know it FELT long in many places. A great read, just a bit much.

Honestly this is a re-read. I read it mlyears ago and I had all three books in the trilogy on audible, but never listened to them. I figured I'd go through them all finally. After halfway through the first book, I just couldn't do it anymore. The dialogue is just so boring between the characters. And then halfway through the entire story switches up to new characters I don't care about with more bad dialogue. It's a book about vampires and I was bored to death.

Wow! It took me a month to read this one! So glad I kept going with it. This book is epic and I'm looking for the next one right now!

Some points in the storyline dragged a bit and I ended up trading off reading this book while reading several others. Overall, I enjoyed the book. I'm usually not a fan of post-apocalyptic stories, but I found myself staying up late to read in order to find out what was going to happen next.

I thoroughly enjoyed this engrossing book. Cronin imagines a post-apocalyptic world that is both intriguing and exciting. I'm glad it was so long, because I got to be immersed in the world he created for that much longer.

I'm looking forward to following these characters when the next book comes out!
