The Passage

Justin Cronin

3.95 AVERAGE

Maybe 3.5 stars? The story kept my attention initially but then it just took so long before gaining momentum again. It takes a while to pick up again - several hundred pages but when it does it gets exciting. I am venturing into book 2.

There‘s so much I want to say. But I don‘t know how to put everything into words. So many things happened.

But the ending.. I‘m sad now. I expected that ending, but I was hoping I would be wrong.

And what happened to my man, Theo? Is he still in that bunker, waiting for no one now that apparently everyone died in Roswell?! Did I miss something? Or did he die as well? (EDIT: I just re-read the final pages of the book - seems like the garrison got him out of the bunker to Roswell, if „now we‘re all safe and sound“ according to Sara is anything to go by)

And Wolgast! I knew Amy didn‘t just leave him to die in that forest in the beginning of the book. Or well… he did die to some degree? He‘s a viral now.

this is one of the greatest stories I've ever read. An incredibly immersive world and fascinating impossible elements.

This was an amazing book that held my interest the whole time. This is not one of those books where you can figure out exactly what is going to happen. It is very suspensful, but also has a couple good love stories along the way. It has so many different subplots that are truly entertaining not just taking up space, that you feel as though this book is its own history, with a million untold stories. It was excellent. It was beautifully crafted, well thought out with great description! It is my understanding that there is going to be another book after this or maybe even a trilogy. Cant Wait!

DID NOT FINISH: 74%

I read part one in 2013 or 2012 while on jury duty. However, part two has been difficult to get into. It's been years that I have been picking it up and listening and/or reading then putting it back down. I finally decided that it's time to pull the plug and just stop. So DNF'ing at more than 70%.

It's an epic (over 700 pages) set post-apocalypse. It's dark and scary in a Michael Creighton meets Stephen King way. Reading it I felt like I did when I was a teenager and all I wanted to do is to hole up ignoring everything else except reading.

Can't believe I have to wait 2 years for the next installment.

Loved it just as much the second time around! In fact, I think I caught more this time than the first!
