This was an entertaining read. A little slow to start, but once it picked up it did not slow down. The story went in a completely different direction from what I was expecting!

A fantastic sequel. This one is set later and follows Roger as an adult. We get to see the aftermath of the horrifying events of that brutal first book. This one expands things and we get to see Roger as he unexpectedly becomes involved in a nightmare situation. I've seen a lot of reviews for the first book and I almost didn't keep reading but am so glad I did. This one while not as gory or graphic (with the exception of a few choice scenes) this one felt like more of an action horror with a focus on story rather than extreme horror. Highly recommend.

The Summer I Died (book one of this series) was truly an impossible act to follow. It remains as my favorite extreme horror novel, and one of my all-time favorites.
Born to Bleed is entirely different from its predecessor. It is more of an especially gory, condensed murder mystery.
I really enjoyed the further expansion on Roger’s character. He continued to feel real.
Similarly to the first book, the plot started off pretty slow, but once it picked up, it didn’t stop.
If you are looking for a short murder mystery, and you can stomach extreme horror, then this is the book for you.
But for fans of the original book, don’t go in expecting the same thing, or the same Roger Huntington.
PLEASE READ THE WARNINGS!! There are some extreme aspects from the first book that are much more graphic in this one.
