Umayma, a planet populated by many races, and filled with secrets. We follow once-a-holy-mercenary Nyx, and people she comes in contact with during her chaotic missions.

The good: I love the world because it's immense and poorly understood by all, which makes it almost into a living thing. Oh, and leaves lots of space for future installments.

The bad: The plot was at times so chaotic (especially in the first book) that I felt more lost than the protagonist(s), which is saying a lot.
Also, if you like to love and root for the protagonists, I'm not so sure this is your cup of tea - they are mostly doing what they think they have to do in order to survive. It ain't pretty.

The ugly: The carnageeee. And repetition, sometimes.

Final thoughts on the trilogy: I love this! I am going to get everything Kameron Hurley has written. Aaand follow her blog. I love the style, the balance of action and character interactions is exactly as I like it, and how can't you just adore a lady that says her books are about female bysexuals and bugs?!?
