This book started our reading like a young adult novel, with teenage characters and a simple plot. However, as more details emerged about the accident, I became hooked and did not foresee the direction that the book went. It's a very easy read but it's also surprising.
i love murder mysteries i love murder mysteries. the ONLY first person closed perspective i read is ones where it’s told that way with purpose and counts toward the plot, and this absolutely delivered. this book is in my top 3 for sure, along with mr. chuck’s fight club and it by stephen king

I really like the that the story is told through Cadence’s broken memories. It l added a strong sense of mystery of what really happened during that summer 15. That said, there were moments where the pacing was slow and I found my attention drifting. Some parts felt a bit drawn out, and I just wanted to get to the bottom of the story.
But the plot twist completely caught me off guard. It was unexpected and hit hard emotionally. It actually made me want to re-read the book, and see if there were any subtle clues and see how everything adds up.
