This is the day...the day i finally finished one of the best work written by mankind...it is an really really an tough ride and really really reflective...How come someone from early 19th centuary in st. Petersburg frim russia create a character that is relates to us... I find the reasons why they call this Timeless...Each and Every characters are deeply written and equally important...The graphs of the characters like the redemption of Raskolnikov and mainly i can't stop thinking about the character "Svidrigailov"... Dostoevsky shows us the mind of an murderer and how he's suffering, how he's alienated from the humanity, how he avoid everyone and become unloveable from his arrogance and finally how he re-enter in to humanity through love...It's an novel about How philosophy of an individual could destroy someone and How love save them from it... This novel is like a onion we can learn and write new things from it...everytime we think about it...It either bored you to death drop it or it's going to change your forever....it's an novel about suffering literally that each and every character are in the state of suffering in their own way for their own reason reasons and dostoevsky tells how suffering could be transformative that raskolnikov suffered throught the novel or the meaningless suffering like that sonya suffered or the suffering for others like raskolnikov mom and his sister....The main theme of this novel is How raskolnikov confess his crime how he suffered for that confession and the redemption of raskolnikov... After that where he spend un his prison only his aftermath... One of the best moment i encounter in this novel is when raskolnikov realises the sonya's love for him and he falls on her feet...it gives me and everyone a Hope that is we still overcome from that suffering from that alienated state from that unloveable man through the magic of love or love itself is a magic... I have so many beautiful moments, memories for this book for the last one month i wandered the streets of st. Petersburg with raskolnikov... And i should talk about the razmukin the world best friend that anyone asks for...if you read this novel you know how he is good in nature and how he generous to raskolnikov eventhough he is irritated by razmukin presence...i will keep updating my reveiw once in a while if i have any thoughs or opinions on this novel and finally... There are good books... There are great books and There is Dostoevsky

Wow! This book was way better and much more engaging than I was expecting. My only other dip into Russian literature was reading a bit of war and peace, and this book was much more fast paced and digestable, and I enjoyed it about as much as Dracula, which is another one of my favourite classics book. I ended up mostly listening to this as an audiobook and finished most of it within two days. It was a really interesting look into the psychology of a murderer, and contained some really interesting philsophical discussions, some of which were interesting, and some of which were clearly the main character deluding himself. Also crazy to see a positive portrayal of a sex worker in a book from 1866, there is also a fair amount of going to people's houses and talking, and most of the book is waiting for the inevitable. I really liked this.

I saw a review that said "too much crime and not enough punishment" and I would agree this is more an exploration of crime than an exploration of the punishment of crime society does.
