I was ready to hate this book going into it, I’ve regarded it as my least favorite of the series since forever. But after reading it in its entirety, I must say that it has been dethroned by Chamber of Secrets, which in retrospect pales in comparison. Now while I’m not a huge fan of time travel as a concept, I think it’s use in this book is brief enough where it’s fine, and the rest of the book completely makes up for it. Lupin and Sirius are both top 10 characters in the franchise and are introduced perfectly in this book. It’s charming, it’s interesting, quidditch actually matters. I mean what’s not to love. The twist at the end of the book is the best one in the series up to this point. It blows book 2’s out of the water and imo beats book 1’s. Overall this book won me over, and I now recognize it for what it is, an absolute classic.
This is a really intriguing book. The entire last part of the book is like reading a puzzle. It's really trippy and interesting. The main plot is also intriguing. My biggest problem is maybe that this causes plot holes for the rest of the series.
