This is my first Stephen King and it will not be my last! I loved this book!!! The Shining is one of my favourite films of all time and I 100% like the book better.

I liked how I got to see more of Jack’s character in this then in the film. He was a complicated character who struggled with addiction and abuse and it was good to see more a back story of this.

I definitely like Wendy more in the film, I was reading this picturing Shelley Duvall as Wendy!

Poor little Danny, he was only a little boy and he has to deal with so much.

This book was amazing, plot was great, pacing was great. I definitely got the creeps at some points towards the end.

10/10 would recommend! Definitely going back into the reread pile.

slow-paced

Okay... I was having fun at the beginning. I was on a road trip relatively close to Colorado when I started this one so it was very easy to connect with the imagery. I enjoyed learning about the ideas behind the paranormal-ness. eventually, though, it lost me.

I picked this book hoping to finally read a book that scared me, but I think I've felt more uneasy just reading about true-crime.

wayyyy too many corny moments, not scary at all, and honestly I was not a big fan of any of the characters. also, I know it's a book, but damn Mr. King can we chill on the n-word??
