"This is the age of certainty, mate. Everything’s screwed and unpredictable, so people cling to these…these ice floes of opinion, holding on for dear life. They’re terrified to show any doubt, especially of themselves. It’s dangerous.”
"People waste their time guessing. You’re just worms, Jack, trying to picture what’s above the soil. The reality is way beyond you."
"My heebies are jeebie-less."
This was a really fun read, told in a unique way. I always love me an unreliable narrator and I loved seeing evidence of that unreliability throughout.
The afterword and the interactive part of the note from the publisher at the end were really cool immersive additions to the book. If you read this, don't skip them!

It's sometimes refreshing to place pretension besides our tiny mother-of-pearl caviar spoon and step over to a strangers table.
From page one, this "chiller-thriller" takes off with a creepy exorcism and never stops building momentum. The premise of why the book exists is explained with an original backstory and our 1st person narrator flies through well worn tropes with creativity and innovation. I was sucked in quickly.
It's well written, sharply phrased, ultra-modern (social media is a character), hard to put down fun. Often gruesome with some effective creepiness, it's not the slow burning, deep-seated psychological horror I usually gravitate towards. This is more of a blazing rocket of twisted bodies than slow rising balloon of incestuous, horned masked, kimono wearing torturers. Fast and effective, while not feeling commercial or written for the masses. Would recommend to anyone.

Good God I hate time travel. So, you know, me: "Book about possession?? Sweet! Dark and demon-y and definitely not a time travel novel!" And it was a froggin' time travel novel. WTF?? And just not that great anyway. A cast of obnoxious characters I didn't really care about, a really inconsistent format and narration, and, OooooooOOOOoOOOooo, the real demons are our egos! Spoooooopy!
Wow! What a fun horror read; I was laughing and shaking from fear all the way through. I don’t want to spoil too much so all I’ll say is I would highly recommend to horror veterans and newbies to the supernatural/possession horror genre.

The ghost story is half the fun. The unrelliable narration is the other half.
