I just picked this book up based on an ad I saw on Youtube or Instagram (I can't remember which) mainly because I like the publisher and was intrigued by the concept. I am so glad I read it. I think I read it in under 24 hours, with only a break for sleeping. I wasn't able to put it down and constantly wanted to know what happened next. I haven't felt that way about a book since I read the Harry Potter books back in middle school and high school when they were coming out.
This book, however, is much darker than Harry Potter. Obviously. This is a super good, thrilling, scary, suspenseful, dark, well-written book that really grabs your attention and keeps you immersed the whole time. It also makes you kind of question reality and what's going on and who's trustworthy and who's telling you what really happened and who's lying. I love that kind of thing, I love untrustworthy narrators, and I LOVE a book that makes me think whilst also being AWESOME. This book is that. Buy it. Trust me.

I'd give it a 3.5 out of 5 first off. It started off really well and genuinely gave me chills at some points. I liked the characters and premise of the book and the writing styles. The character of Jack Sparks did annoy me at times though in relation to the believing in ghosts and the supernatural elements. It drifted for me slightly and took turns I wasn't expecting when reading the middle to end of the book but the end was great and picked up again! I enjoyed this book and look forward to seeing what Jason Arnopp is up to now.
