Oona is a mermaid who loves to explore and seek treasure. There is a not quite buried treasure that she has wanted for some time, but the obstacles to achieving this goal are many. However, Oona has the help of her friend Otto the otter. There are parts of this book that I see holes in as an adult reader. Why the need for the special glasses, and who made the bridge for what reason. But most of that will fly by the children. What they will see is a beautiful black mermaid and her fuzzy soft friend having adventures and living a glorious life.
Digging this fluffy mermaid hair. 5 stars for Raissa's lovely illustrations. The story starts off great... classically engaging. Then it or I drifted and the story fell flat.
Black mermaids for the win!
Plus, the illustrations in this book are beyond gorgeous!

Oona is a little mermaid who is trying to get a crown stuck at the bottom of a deep and dark rift. Her and her friends make several creative attempts to retrieve the crown. Raissa Figueroa's illustrations are so pretty and help to tell this story, written by Kelly DiPucchio. My favorite character is the little turtle. <3
I want to live in this beautiful world! BEYOND cuteness. Just mesmerizing illustrations.

Adorable book! The art was fantastic—so expressive and filled with so many cute details. In the middle of the book it felt like there were some connecting thoughts from the story that were a little confusing, but I loved Oona’s perseverance and creativity.
