It was so whimsical. The authors descriptions were mesmerising and the prose had me breathless.
I adored the chivalry of the time and the exploration of a female character with a strength of will that cannot be questioned, seeking wisdom and empowerment among the chains of men.
The set up of the Merlin and Morgan rivalry was cleverly done.
Stunning.

Morgan’s character drew me in really quickly, and kept me hooked for the entire book. The book itself does a lot of world building and contextualising, as it’s the first of a trilogy (I think).

I knew I wanted to read this the moment I saw the novel. And when I needed to come up with a paper topic for a course I thought why not use something I want to read anyways. (Note to self, don't do it again).

The book itself is great! If you've ever been intrigued by Morgan Le Fay's story, this is amazing, feminist, and a new spin on her story. Granted, I haven't read much but I say new, as it was recently published.

I love how Keetch describes Morgan and how the reader, I, feels close to her. Feels sorry for her, roots for her etc. I just enjoy her backstory, what events shaped her, where her powers came from and so on. The writing in general is beautiful, it flows forwards, it fits the time period while fitting the modern person reading it. It kept the atmosphere of the time period without feeling too foreign, if it makes any sense.
I might have to continue with the next book.

Then the disclaimer: I don't do well with books that I "have to" read. Even if I choose those myself. It took me too long, literally finished on the day of the deadline (which I won't meet). There's just some brick wall when it comes to books and uni work, I can't read no matter how much I want. Thankfully I still enjoyed this novel!
