This book broke my goddamn heart. T____T
I knew going in that this would be a beautiful and ultimately sad story, but I wasn’t prepared for how the audiobook would leave me SOBBING. There are notes of hope in among the darkness, and a wonderful thread of found family, but this is a serious tearjerker. I adore all these characters so much and wish I could give them all a hug

A heartwarming quick read, and it reminded me of how we often forget that how people behave is usually a consequence of what’s happened to them.

Such a small story bringing big tears. I'm not a crier, but this book made my eyes water. Damn Joseph's dad to hell. That's all I'm going to say.

This was a quick middle-grade/YA emotional read - by a local author! It’s about an unlikely friendship between a 6th grade boy growing up on a small farm and going through awkward 6th grade stuff & an 8th grade boy placed in the family as a foster, after finding out he was a father at 13. Somehow a beautiful story told in 180 short pages!
