Lisa Wingate's best seller, Before We Were Yours, was an excellent, fictionalized story based on a real-life scandal where babies and children were stolen from the poor to be sold to the rich. This book by Judy Christie and Lisa Wingate relates some of the real-life stories of some of the orphans who were victims of that scandal, some who actually learned the truth because of Lisa Wingate's book Before We Were Yours.

heartbreaking yet uplifting. I am still appalled that Georgia Tann and her greed filled machine of selling children was allowed to operate for 30 years..

The stories of those impacted by Georgia Tann were impactful, particularly the ones closer to the end of the book. Didn't love the writing though.

This was heartwrenching in many ways. It brought light to a situation that could have gone unknown and covered up way longer. People went great depths to find their personal history & stories, and it's so good that someone was there to help record it.

This was my car book. I would probably have tasted it higher if I had read it straight through instead of a little at a time over a long period.

So incredible. Heart-breaking. I can't believe this was allowed to happen for so long and Georgia Tann and her helpers were never punished. Unbelievable.

I’m dying to know what is being done with the adoptees stories. Are they being recorded and preserved in an archive?

Busy, and rushed with deadlines, Judy Christie and Lisa Wingate's Before and After felt a bit disjointed. Their hearts were in the right place and many fans of Wingate's Before We Were Yours including me, were eager to read the personal stories of the many brave adoptees willing to be interviewed.

I am a proponent of open adoptions and feel keeping secrets does more harm than good.

Recommended to all who have interest in what happened to some of the children caught up in Georgia Tann's many years of adoption fraud. I can only hope that these adult victims will continue to meet and that others will seek the answers they need to have a clearer picture of their family history.

A good follow up to Before We Were Yours. So if you enjoyed that book, you would probably be interested in real stories of people that actually were adopted from there.

This brought me a lot of thoughts and feelings, and questions, and made me think. I really like when books cause me to think deeply about life.
