I had no expectations regarding the book. Going in I didn't even know what it was about.

Basically we " took Robin Hood out of Sherwood Forest and relocate(d) him in Wales ... set his story in the eleventh century, and recast(ed) the honourable outlaw as an early British freedom fighter."
I did not love this book nor did I hate it. It was just meh for me. I didn't like the characters very much. Except Anaghrad. That woman is a boss and stan her.
Use of bow and arrows- It was while making bow and arrows that he slowly regains his strength and learns that he has to step up and be the leader they all need right now.

This is my subject cup of tea and I thought it was an amazing take on Robin Hood. I just felt I never really came full circle to being impressed by Robin Hood. It’s more about the affect of Robin Hood on surrounding small-nobles.

Finally finished this audio book yesterday. The only reason it took so long was so I could listen to it with Chris (which was only on the weekend), not becuase I didn't want to.
This is a great book! It is an eleborately retold Robin Hood tale. Very hostorically centered, set in Welsh. The characters still come alive with detail. No magic needed to captivate the audience. Sometimes half the fun was figuring out who was who in context to the "old" Robin Hood tale, how they would turn up, and suprise when they did.
Best read in some time, glad I picked this one up.

It was interesting to read the beginning of the Robin Hood story with a Welsh setting. There is a large cast of characters, many of whom are traditional members of the story (Little John, Tuck, Marian), but its hard to figure out who is really the bad guy (the Sheriff) as there are quite a few contenders for the role. This is the first book of a trilogy, and I'm sure it will become clearer.

I was inititally drawn into the story quickly, and it moved along at a pretty good pace while keeping you interested. Towards the end of the book, I started loosing interest, so it took longer than normal to finish. I'll wait a bit before beginning the next in the series.

Terrific story and love the research that went into this book. Reader needs to work on his French.

Gripping and fascinating. I was very impressed. The characters are complex, seem pretty true-to-life (I'm not a British history expert, so I can't say for sure, but it was engaging at least), and the larger historical background gave the whole book a realistic feel. I very much enjoyed it.
