Honestly the only reason I read The Kite Runner was because it was assigned for us to read in my school. But I had read a summary of it and I wasn't interested. I think a big part of that was because it wasn't like any of the other YA novels I read plus it was different and every part of me regrets not reading the book sooner than now. It was a painstakingly, beautiful, memorable, and mesmerizing read that makes you think of your loyalties to family, friends, and people that you keep ties with. I absolutely loved this book from the beginning to the end and I even cried a couple of times.

Amir is a 38 year old writer and living in San Francisco with his wife happily married. But a phone call changes Amir's life, hurling him into his unforgotten past face first. Amir remembers past experiences that has shaped him into the man he now is and always will be. Memories of his great and honorable father? His first adult best friend? A servant who's just that and MAYBE a possible friend? There are some things that will beat Amir to the ground rendering him hurt, vulnerable, and broken. But the true test is whether or not he'll stand back up and get beaten brutally again.

"For you, a thousand times over." damn, i'm crying so hard! It made me feel the weight of guilt and the power of loyalty. Narealize ko din na we should not take love, family, loyalty and most importantly PEACE for granted! Grabe, hands down kay Hassan and kay Baba... also kay Amir. I love this book!!!

Such a tough read, completely heartwrenching at times, it will stay with me for a long while. But I so loved the journey and character development, and all the reflections on life.

it's beautifully written, made me nauseous with sadness, also helped me learn about the political state of afghanistan, as well as taking part of their culture and traditions, and get some context around their situation today
