Ok. It's official.
Ella broke me with this book.

"Need and love were a force we couldn’t contend with and forever lost the battle to."

I was sobbing at 52% and was a freaking waterfall by the end of the book.

I can't even begin to explain how much I loved this book.
Yes, it made me cry.
But it also made me smile, laugh, sigh, swoon and curse the name Ella Fields (I may have also messaged her half way through the book telling her I hated her and sent a photo of my actual tears, but... yeah) anyway.... it was fucking amazing.

Peggy and Dash were holding strong as my favourites but Willa and Jackson blew them out of the water. I'm still trying to recover 3 days later.... epic freaking book hangover.

Thank you, Ella for your angst ridden, tear inducing masterpiece. My heart hurts, but it was so worth it.

The first half of this book was SO GOOD. It had all the feelings, drama and angst I love from this author. Then, the second half. It had zero feelings and was just rushed. Nothing felt truly resolved. Things just were. It was unbelievable and forced. Huge disappointment

When I bought this book, I thought it was just about to childhood best friends who fell in love. Imagine my surprise when I found out it wasn’t.
I was really conflicted while reading this book, because I find it so wrong reading about step siblings forming a relationship. I mean, they grew up together, and saw each other as siblings for most of the book.
The only way I could get past that, was by pretending they were just childhood best friends. But I guess that’s just a me problem.

I liked the writing style the writer used, and thought the plot was really well written. I liked how it showed how immature you are as a teenager, and how you don’t always voice your thoughts, actions and insecurities to your partner.

I highly recommend this book to others, if you can get past the whole step sibling

Sheesh

They almost got me. From beginning to end, the emotions in this one rocked me. The taboo, the sheer ache, it was present.
But good grief, I’m not gonna lie. Jackson was a huge jerk for most of this, and it made it hard for me to connect with him.
Eventually things did even out, but there was definitely a rough patch.
Willa was too soft to his too hard, but she found her strength too, at least a little bit.

Hearts and Thorns was angsty, sexy and an emotional rollercoaster of epic proportions. I loved it and hated it; I loved that it had me so emotionally invested in it to the point where I didn't want to put it down and hated a lot of the things the characters did but man what a great story. I was obsessed with Willa's and Jack's story. It was rough, they made stupid decisions but their love endured through it all. I thoroughly enjoyed this book even though it put me through the emotional wringer. I definitely recommend it.

Wow! Ella definitely lives up to the title of Queen of Angst. This book was filled to the brim with angst, lies, heartbreak, misunderstandings, and love. A love some may feel is taboo, but as the story goes on those lines become blurred and it isn't as taboo as previously thought.

Willa and Jackson broke me. My emotions were all over the place. Jackson made me so mad at times I found myself talking to, or yelling in some cases at him. In true Ella fashion she gets you all twisted up inside. To be honest? I loved the ending but at the same time I feel it wasn't overly thrilled. Maybe because I was still so mad at Jackson.

The book was amazing as all her books are, it is definitely worth the read. Just make sure you wrap your kindle in bubble wrap because you will want to throw it at times, will need wine and chocolate for others.

Hearts and Thorns by Ella Fields was one of my most anticipated reads of 2020, and how could it not be? Ella Fields is a motherfucking unicorn! No shit! The woman is magical! The level of angst in her books is unparalleled. She rips your heart out and beats you with it, punches you in the stomach, and stomps on your soul! If you don't believe me, give one of her books a try, and you'll see I speak the truth! She earned her "Queen of Angst" nickname honestly. If you're not sweating, sobbing, cursing, contemplating throwing things, breaking shit, and ending lives, it's not an Ella Fields novel!

I don't know how she does it, but at this point, I suspect it's impossible for this author to write a bad book. Every single story I've read from her has held me captive from the start. If one of her books is on my kindle, I know there's a sleepless night ahead, and that's exactly what happened this time. Willa and Jackson grabbed ahold of my heart and wouldn't let go. The emotions I felt while reading this had me an absolute mess! I felt all the feelings! My chest hurt. My eyes welled with tears. I laughed, threatened murder, and swooned! Any book that can pull all of that out of you is a damn good one. Period.

Willa and Jackson's love is beautiful, messy, complicated, and 100 percent meant to be. The fact that they're brother and sister (though not by blood) makes their journey a particularly difficult one. It's downright heartbreaking at times. My insides ached. I literally wanted to scream at the top of my lungs, but in the end, it was all worth it!

I was so ready to love this one. The first half, I really enjoyed. The latter half? Not so much. It had a lot of elements that I dislike in romance. I LOVE angst, but not that type of angst.
