This novella follows a young boy as he has his first crush and comes to certain realisations about his home life, adults and violence.
It's a touching story on the loss of innocence and the things we notice as we age. It's a beautiful book, especially the boy's inner monologue, questioning how he acts, what he says and why does he feel like he feels.
For those who read the book, I particularly appreciated the relationship between the boy and his grandmother.
I think I will be revisiting this one and also diving into others works by Kawakami.
