Beautiful! A romantic story that doesn't force the romance, letting it flourish naturally!

A manga I cannot recommend highly enough ☺

The second installment of the series, definitely glad that I decided to continue with it and wondering what's next. This is how the sad story begins... I liked how easy to read the manga is, despite the emotionally difficult topics. The graphics were not always top-notch and the subplots could be sometimes confusing, though.

I really adore the way this manga continues to unfold. Even if I know thanks to the anime that it goes on to explore more tragedy, grief and trauma, the manga reads fast and it's beautiful in the way it chooses to approach the topics it deals with and how it portrays its characters as very human kids.

This was a strong sequel to the opening volume and focuses on Arima’s and Kaori’s blossoming friendship over classical music. I had goosebumps reading their performance and the sheer passion they have for music is wonderfully shown on their faces. I feel like Kaori’s fainting spells are going to be the start of something sad though which I’m not looking forward to reading :/

I love how diverse Arima and Kaori are - the former is pretty introverted, shy and humble while Kaori is extrovert, loud and revels in attracting attention. I think they complement each other perfectly. Also love Tsubaki snd Watari as supporting characters and hope we get to see much more of them in future volumes!

I really want to like this series. And I’m honestly surprised that I don’t like it more.

Where is all this hype coming from?

I will admit that this volume was better than the first, at least.

Arima and Kaori have their first performance together, and it’s terrible. Arima goes in with high hopes, but quickly his memory of his mother is getting in the way and he can’t play. Kaori pushes him, though. And even if their performance is bad, the audience is pulled into the drama of it.

We get hints that Kaori is maybe sick after the performance, but she’s quickly back to surprising and urging Arima to do more with himself. To live life instead of dragging through it.

Mostly, I’m having a hard time really feeling anything for the characters. Something about the art, and their noses, bothers me. The humor is off. Most of the powerful moments, reveals and statements and memories, just aren’t hitting me right. All of it together just isn’t pulling me in enough.

I think it’s getting better along the way, but it’s not at the top of my list to continue. I want to love it, but I’m not.
