I enjoyed this book a lot, and although I misread the plot twist the first time around (don’t ask me how!), I found this book surprisingly dark but intense. This feels more like a direct sequel to The Hidden Kingdom than the more standalone-but-connected previous books, but it did tie up quite a few things I thought were loose knots from the last book. I did enjoy Starflight, although I found that as he is a more introspective character compared to the other four dragonets, he became somewhat repetitive in his thoughts at times. But the plot has definitely set up well for the Arc finale!

I love how this installment of the Wings of Fire series delved into the NightWing history a little more, but it was disappointing how little it focused on all the dragons but Starflight.
