I wanted to like this book more, it started quite strong but got a bit more confusing as time went on, particularly after a break in reading.

Story told from multiple narrators’ point of view, some of whom have aliases, so keeping them straight was frustrating at times.

For all that, a decent story and a few twists and turns along the way

I thought the writing was pretty good in this book, and the plot definitely kept me thinking. I think the book played with some interesting ideas about generational trauma, the fake selves we show to social media, and the societal role of women to just absorb abuse and try to keep moving forward. I definitely think I'll pick up Ms. Unger again.

I was definitely stressed out by this one, but not necessarily in a good way. Infidelity (with the nanny!), blackmail, missing people - this had a lot going on! But my library checkout ran out in the middle, and I kind of didn’t care. I did ultimately finish It though. A good thriller should be unputdownable. This was…fine. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

It’s okay. The grammar really drove me crazy. It wasn’t incorrect but it was very stylistic and that made some sentences hard to read. There were some tropes, but also some good twists. The ending was satisfying. I’d say it’s worth the read if you like books where everything connects in the end.
