Kubrick called this the best story about a serial killer ever written. Not read a lot of those to comment on that but Thompson is very good at writing incredibly frankly about the horrible things his lead character does in this. This would make an interesting pairing with the Dexter novels I imagine as they’re both about characters in law enforcement who also abuse their power to kill though Lou Ford is far more corrupt than Dexter who at least kills other criminals.
