I first read new chapters of Tokyo Ghouls years ago bud didn't enjoy it. I picked it up again recently, and my feelings have completely changed. I really enjoyed it.

In a world where ghouls, hide among humans, Ken is the victim of one. Saved before the ghoul could finish him off, the ghoul organs are then transplanted into him to help him survive. Without knowing, Ken becomes the first half human and half ghoul being. He now has to adjust to this new life.

I've been looking for a new manga to read, and might have found my next stop with this series. A lot of people I follow online have started this series lately, and it comes highly recommended, so we're giving it a try! It's got a lot of elements that pander to readers like me: a shy, bookish protagonist, a secret and sinister urban underworld, a wry sense of humor. I'm glad to find a series with an older protagonist (that is to say, out of high school at least) even if it's not exactly aimed at an adult audience, so I think this might be a good one. We'll see!

Ken is a fellow book lover, aah, something to connect on. I loved that there's no wandering around the bush for the event to happen, it just goes wham and
SpoilerKen Kaneki is a Ghoul now!
. I've been warned of the gore level with this manga, let's see how much I can stomach..
