So I had to gather my emotions before I typed this review up because I cried so much during this book. The emotional anguish and pain that I felt for West in this book was tremendous. It hit me in all the places, and I honestly found myself not knowing how to move on at certain parts because of how emotional it was. This book was freaking amazing and so deeply emotional. The way that the trauma and healing was done in this book was phenomenal. This is a great representation of how healing is an ever revolving door and sometimes you get stuck. Sometimes you lose the handle and you have to find another way through, but it’s a battle that you have to continue to fight. I need this paperback immediately. It was amazing. I am officially going to go find everything by this author and read it. This is a highly recommended read from me. If you can handle hurt/comfort and trauma in books, I would definitely say read this however, please check your trigger warnings.

Very good! I feel like West's trauma was handled very carefully and properly. It was nice to see Jackson take care of him, but also struggling as to how to react. I have mixed feelings about the end, with Jackson's accident and West's departure, which both felt a bit unnecessary, but I guess they needed the distance, so why not (with HEA) , but I didn't like it. I'm not a fan of ranches and bulls driving and beards (damn), but I still enjoyed this book very much, especially regarding West's horrendous past.
I really wanted to love this.
My heart broke for West but he was painted as a victim and nothing else for the vast majority of this book. I didn't really feel anything for Jackson as there was nothing to him. He was angry, then he wasn't and he was just sort of nothing. I didn't buy the love story at all. Jackson was unbelievably kind to West but the love came out of nowhere for me.
The book had too many shor chapters (over 100). And I agree with what so many others have said, the healing should have been on page. There was so much made oh how broken West was, and then Jackson was physically broken as well. But their healing was done through a handful of letters in the last 10% of the book. It feels like the reader is cheated after all the hurt we had to endure.

Beginning: Cried at both 9% and 19%. West's backstory is fucked up beyond repair. Love Tess the Dog (obviously). Wonder how they're going to fill 50% more of this book??
Middle: Hard to stay interested? Like, it was good but also dragged on and on and certain things were never addressed, such as who was moving the posts/gates on the ranch?
End: Realistic at least? I'm so glad that West put himself in inpatient therapy/support. It was realistic, especially with the relapse.
Graphic: Addiction, Alcoholism, Child abuse, Cursing, Death, Hate crime, Homophobia, Mental illness, Panic attacks/disorders, Rape, Self harm, Sexual assault, Sexual violence, Suicidal thoughts, Suicide attempt, Death of parent, Abandonment, Injury/Injury detail
