This YA roaring 20’s rural sea town romance was just as addictive as it was perfectly charming, romantic and with a great sense for familial relationships.
There was space for diversity, love from all walks of life, luxurious parties, beautiful scenery, the sea, oh the sea (I love it as much as our heroine), deceit and misunderstandings, obligations and secrets, supporting parents, amazing sisters, and romance of the kind that makes you curl your toes in need to see it fulfilled.
Lou is just the right amount of naive, strong willed and righteous, a girl with dreams, a girl wanting to discover life and live it, a girl who will meet the the broody owner of the house in the middle of the sea that she has stolen for herself while unoccupied, and will be swept away to live a Summer and a life she only ever read on the magazines and romance novels. Of course, she will be down for a lot of surprises, laughs and tears, as it was prone to happen.
Just lovely and what I needed when I picked it up this afternoon. Yep, this was a one sitting read, it was just the perfect amount of captivating and entertaining.
I can’t wait to read the author’s other YA romances.

I would've liked to see more of the queer characters or about mental health.

I loveeeee the vibes this book has. From beginning to end, it fulfilled my nature, cottagecore desires and luxurious castle dreams. Lou’s love with the tide is so admirable. I also adored the relationship she has with her sister, Alice, and how lovely the Trevelyan family is. This reminded me so much of the Studio Ghibli movie When Marnie was There.
I would definitely sell my soul to read this book again for the first time.
