I thought it was going to be bad, and I was not disappointed. I've read all 13 books now and I was never under the delusion that this was quality fiction. This series is pretty much the literary equivalent of shows like Jersey Shore and Here Comes Honey Boo Boo. However, the plot and characters (let's face it, I'm mostly referring to Eric here) made the books fun to read. In this final installment, I couldn't even rely on that. The plot was thinner than ever and I didn't even get the satisfaction of a Sookie-Eric happily-ever-after. Boo.

This has an incredible amount of negative reviews due to the ending because people seem to have a personal problem with it. However, the writing in this series has naturally developed into this ending and it does not come out of left field or feel contrived in any way. Some people say this book is terrible, but the other books are so good - I'm not sure why they say that when this follows the exact same formula as every other book in the series.

I think it's sad that people rate a book one star because they don't like the ending or someone ends up in a romantic relationship that they didn't want. As an example, in a Tamora Pierce series, I was displeased about a romance formed in the end, but it did not affect my enjoyment of the story as it felt natural to the character despite me not personally being a fan.

What I'm trying to say is this - this is not worse than any other book in the series, despite what all these reviews are saying! Overall, the series is a fun, quirky read, but nothing thought-provoking or super special. Some entries in the series are certainly missteps with lack of direction and contrived situations, but the author was trying to make something fun, and I think she succeeded. She certainly made people passionate about their own ideal ending that she got several death threats for her actual ending.

I know people are pissed because this was not a happily ever after with everyones favorite viking riding sookie off into the sun set but I personally will always prefer an honest ending to a happy one.

I nice conclusion to a long journey.
I'm really happy she ended up with Sam. I always knew they are for each other.

Underwhelming but a somewhat satisfying conclusion to Sookie's adventures.

I liked it. I'm happy she ended up with who she ended up with, I've always wanted those two to hook up, though I do think she would have been better with someone else too. The part right before the end seemed a little...weird. Kinda thrown in, like she needed to have one last debacle that wasn't needed. Otherwise, it was an okay book. Not good enough to be the last in the series, but, still okay. I will probably read the companion book that shows what happens to everybody cause I'm curious...that's the great thing about libraries.

Last one...Sigh...

These books started to go downhill after awhile but this was good in the sense that you got to see a lot of favorite people one last time. I am mad however at who sookie ends up with but it's kinda of for the best especially they way Eric treated her in the end. Over all good series not the best but still entertaining
