All I have to say is at least it was over quick

This was the final Sookie Stackouse book in the series, it was wrapped up well, but I'm sad it is over. I look forward to seeing what Ms. Harris gives us next.

A good, solid conclusion to the Sookie Stackhouse books. We had a glimpse of almost every character (still living) and everything was tied up nice and neat. Maybe a little too neat, but it was a fun series to read.

Very satisfying ending!

Yay, I made it to the end of the 'Sookie books'! I can still remember sitting in my breakfast nook in a Dutch apartment at the start of a European holiday last October, reading Dead Until Dark and wondering if I'd continue the series. From a very camp and laughable beginning, things got darker and better, the body count rose, Sookie blossomed and things have now ended exactly as I wanted them to, although I was expecting a tragic twist given the title of this conclusion. I've felt such a strong sense of kinship with Sookie throughout our months together: we're both happy, positive people, and we both work odd hours in people-focused jobs. I'll miss her and the loving, lovely Bon Temps community (although I have one last chance to live in that world in After Dead). I really don't get all the 1-star reviews; wasn't it obvious who Sookie was destined to end up with?! What a treat to discover that Charlaine Harris and I have been on the same page all along. :)

It's with a bit of a heavy heart that I close the cover on this final book in the Sookie Stackhouse series. I really enjoyed this series. Many people complained about the quality of writing in some of the books, or of a stale storyline but I found something that I enjoyed about each book.
I'm a little sad at the ending of this book. It's not that I don't feel like Sam and Sookie are good for each other, they certainly are, I just feel sad that Eric couldn't be faithful and outright in his love. I think I miss Bill most of all. It's a bit of a toss up between Bill and Quinn for favorite boyfriend, but I think Bill wins...his mind that is so attractive.
Regardless, I'm happy Sookie has a boyfriend with a heartbeat. Sam has always been in love with her so that's good. Having been best friends first they already know both the good and the bad about each other.
I'm glad I read the series. ~ Hope

I was a bit hesitant going into this novel given how the series has not been wow'ing me for some time. Which is a shame since I love Sookie and the world that Charlaine Harris created with this series! But, since this is the final novel in the series, I felt like I wanted to see this series through.

And, all in all, I was pleased with how Charlaine Harris ended this one. I've heard a lot of negative reviews about this one but I thought it was pretty good. Not great, not perfect ... but a solid read. I happen to like how the author ended things in this novel but I can understand the disappointment if you'd hoped for a different resolution.

I went in expecting to hate this one so I was pleased to find that I actually enjoyed this final book in the series!

Better than I thought it would be. I had a bit of a time getting into it. I think because this book has more viewpoints to it. I am use to Sookie. What worked really well for me was that the author seemed to go back to her earlier story. The characters were more like the people I knew and loved or hated. I disliked the feeling I got towards the end that Ms Harris was trying too hard to wrap up the story while leaving enough open for another book. After all this was suppose to be the final book but we were fooled. I am not so certain Sookie ended up with anyone. I do think the ending was a typical Sookie man action with a lesson learned aspect. I missed Pam. She is my favorite, (and I totally would be psyched with a Pam spin off), and was just not in this book enough. I wasn't as satisfied with the ending as I would have been if this were the final book, but I am giving it 4 stars. It is more in line with the first books.

As another reviewer put it DEA is DOA. The only reason this book wasn't a DNF (did not finish) for me was that I really wanted to mark the series off my list so I wouldn't be reminded of it. Serious problems in this book. I know it's the author's story to tell, but the book had more problems then me just not liking the way it went. (1) In book #13 characterization is pretty well set so WTF was with the majority of characters acting completely OUT OF CHARACTER just to fit this way to end the story?! (2) Whereas in the previous books we've learned to put up with all the day to day activities that have NO relation to the plot, but seriously did we need two different pages of her detailing the spam e-mail she got?! (3) Fairies banned (4) Wolves banned (too scared to come around (5) Vampires banned What's left? (6) A cozy mystery that is solved by the paranormals randomly showing up to TELL the clue they saw or to use their supernatural power to act as a plot crutch. I got this book from the library. I am so glad I didn't pay for it. I am also so glad I never have to read this author again.

Nicely wrapped up.
