Engrossing and entertaining. Perhaps a tad salacious, but necessarily so. Palin in the subtitle is disingenuous, however as she isn't mentioned until 70% into the book. Obama v. Clinton is the primary, and proper, focus.

Absolutely riveting and thoroughly enjoyable read.

Found a review of this and thought I'd read the book. I am always looking for ways to be more aware of politics.

I found this book extremely engaging. Game Change was not only informative but entertaining. Some of our politicians are shamefully under qualified or reprehensibly selfish. But I am also impressed and inspired by the Obamas' marriage. True love and support can exist.

I read this my senior year of high school. I don’t even know how to rate it now. Ech

This was really fun to read. Especially if you love politics. To read about the inside workings of each campaign was enlightening.

Entertaining and a bit trashy. I enjoyed almost every page, felt breathlessly on edge regarding an election that was won/lost seven years ago, and even discovered in the blackest corner of my heart an unexpected (if miniscule) twinge of sympathy for Sarah Palin. Phew. Recommended if you're interested in politics or people.

Fascinating book. Please, help me undertand this, because it's mind-boggling to me

1. they all start campaining years in advance to reach obscene fundraising goals (which apparently hasn't changed since this current election already seems to have gone on forever and it's only March)

2. they raise 10s of millions of dollars per quarter, which in this economy seems obscene at best

3. they raise said funds in order to make speeches and air commercials where they say why they will make a better President than their opponent and how awful the other candidate is...and maybe occasionally talk about specific policies and how they plan on doing what they promise to do. But mostly it's character assassination

4. during the primaries they attack the opponent in their own party, but if that opponent wins, then they becomes allies of opponent... which doesn't seem too sincere now does it?

5. there were at least two people on this planet willing to sleep with John Edwards

6. manipulating the public to think something about an opponent that really isn't true, or is embellished, is not only excepted, it's rewarded

7. Iowa? Really?

and most importantly....
8. SERIOUSLY? WHY THE HELL DO WE PUT UP WITH THIS?

Great book. Gave me a lot of insight into 2008 election. Particularly poignant as I read it during the 2016 election.

Game Change reads like a beach novel -- it's definitely a page-turner, but it's fairly light on substance. It resembled a stitched-together bunch of Heilemann's "Power Grid" columns from New York magazine. That being said, it was a fun read that offered plenty of juicy tidbits and human insights into the many characters that defined the political landscape in 2008.

Such a fascinating look at the 2008 election. You get a really great, in-depth view of the people in the campaigns and you really understand a lot more about the candidates as people. My favorites were definitely seeing the way the candidates handled difficult situations, as it really told you a lot about what kind of people they are. If I get the chance I'd like to read the sequel, which documents the 2012 election.
