There are enough reviews out there from everybody from Slate to Entertainment Weekly. But suffice it to say that if you followed the 2008 presidential race, you're going to race through this book.
A remarkable look at Barack Obama’s improbable victory over the Clintons, John McCain, and Sarah Palin (with time for Edwards and Guilliani) amid a backdrop of economic collapse. Great writing, very fly-on-the-wall. Insightful. 6 out of 5 stars. Recommended for the election season and anyone interested in how high-level U.S. politics works. Great, great book.
Things I learned from this book: presidential candidates swear. A lot. Also, Sarah Palin can knock herself out running for pres in 2012. It will be an epic and entertaining train wreck. This is basically a 430-page political gossip column, which is exactly why I wanted to read it. Fascinating shit.
Wow, I loved this book. I wish I had read it when it first came out, but beter late than never. I was surprised, however, that Palin does not show up until the final third of the book. I thought the whole thing was going to be about her (and her insanity). I'm actually glad to have gotten an insider view to both the Clinton and Obama campaigns during the primary. Fascinating.
Fascinating! I want the two authors to do a weekly blog throughout the upcoming election cycle.
