3.71 AVERAGE

This is my first time reading the Odyssey in full, and I really enjoyed the whole experience and Wilson's translation specifically. I do think some of the plain language she used took away from the experience, but I still enjoyed it and it helped me in not having to constantly look at a chapter analysis every book.

I also understand why a lot of adaptations change the order of things because man, the proportions of hearing about Odyssey's terrible time getting home VS being at Ithaca are not what the adaptations make it out to be

5 to translator, 3 to the book. The intro was really thorough and informative, I appreciate it more than the book itself. The Odyssey felt more like an ancient propaganda than a piece of art. But I'm also an average Joe, it is my personal unprofessional opinion.

Best way to read this translation of the Odyssey is out loud. The rhythm, the language, the cadence is such a treat!
