This was such a fun, gory story. The body horror was really well done and I will never look at eggs and eyes the same way again.

The prose is simple yet incredibly descriptive, captivating the reader without making it hard to get through. The themes of sisterhood, women’s rights (and wrongs), and sapphic representation was woven seamlessly through the story.

I love the way vampires are portrayed; nothing sparkling in the sun over here.

Overall, I had a great time reading this. The only reason it’s not 5 stars is because I wish there had been less restraint after a point with two specific characters.

Loved this, but I thought the ending was a little weak.

How cool would it have been if Not-Sarah's body was beyond saving, and Lucy offered her own, allowing Sarah and Lucy to become one. Considering how often Lucy mentioning feeling like half a person, I thought it was heading in that direction for the longest time.

Pros:
- this is HORROR horror. I’m talking all the eroticism, all the gore, all the philosophical spinning you could want
- I always believed period blood deserved more attention in vampiric literature and I am not displeased
- this is a great example of “none of you are good people” done exquisitely. You want to root for everyone and no one
- sometimes twins being twins are the horror
- I spotted the secret second lesbians from a mile off
- the gore genuinely made me cringe I had to skim lmao
- I say once again: good for her
- I was so scared something would happen to the dog but don’t worry she’s okay (honestly she probably gets the best deal out of the lot of them)
- sometimes you need to have a problematic dynamic, as a treat

Cons:
- I HATE eye horror and this had it so if you like me are squeamish in that regard, be prepared to skim a rather lot, or get desensitized to it REAL quick. All I can say: hard-boiled egg
- I do wish we got to see a little more of Lucy digesting what Mrs. van Dijk said, if only so we could see her decide to go down the road more outwardly, because it felt a little dropped off. I think that’s the point, but it was really interesting to me so I wanted a tiny bit more

Overall:
I’m regretting packing an egg for lunch tomorrow, but I think I’ll still prefer that to fingers

I.... really don't have much to say about this book (this is untrue, I have many thoughts, but I am too tired to put any of said thoughts into words) except for the fact that I feel like I maybe would have enjoyed it more if it had been framed a bit differently? As things stand it's more "what would you do for your sister" when I feel it'd be more fitting to come at it from the angle of "what would you do to keep your sister". I mean, it's in the name - Not-Sarah. She wasn't Sarah anymore, but she was close enough that Lucy was happy with it and treated her as her sister because she didn't want to let go. I don't know, not something I've considered too extensively, just a random thought that came to me while looking at others' reviews, but it definitely could've been more interesting to read about.

Loved the story, hated the characters, they were unbearable at times. Really liked Pasja the dog though.
