I really enjoyed Arend's Six Pack Ranch series (also narrated by Tatiana Sokolov) - so when I saw all the audiobooks in the Borealis Bears series were less than $3 each on Kobo, I grabbed them.

This was such a fun and easy listen. I really enjoy friends-to-lovers and James & Kaylee didn't disappoint. The banter between them and between themselves and their animals (James' polar bear, Kaylee's bobcat) cracked me up. While there's a fated mates theme to the story, there's no doubt that these two want each other for who they are. Yes, there are several steamy, steamy sex scenes - but it's also obvious that James & Kaylee have a deep and devoted friendship.

There's some secondary storylines that will obviously weave through the rest of the series, but this doesn't end on a cliffhanger for the couple. Fairly low angst with most conflict coming from external sources.

Narration:
I already love Tatiana Sokolov's narrations. She was great here. Not only giving unique voices to all the characters - but to their animals as well. James' interactions with his polar bear were perfect. Loved it.

Shame on me. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed reading Vivian Arend's paranormal romances. With so many books being released, her books got further down on the TBR shelf. Too many books so little time. I will soon be correcting the error of my ways. I have set days apart for a binge re-read of all the author's paranormal books.

I enjoyed the narrator of this audiobook. She kept me engaged. I never doubted who was supposed to be speaking. I have found some narrators a little annoying as of late, but this gal kept me listening until the very end. I cannot tell you how much yard work I got done. Wahoo!!!!

The Bear's Chosen Mate has great characters. The grandfather is the bomb and he is tired of waiting for his grandsons to find their true mates. He has decided that a threat goes along way. It isn't a little threat, it is a big, big threat. One the boys don't want to risk.

The Bear's Chosen Mate is a wonderful friends to lovers story. In fact, James and Kaylee have been best friends forever. James will do anything for his best friend. He soon realizes she is his true mate. Only problem, she isn't convinced. He will pull out all the stops to prove he is right.

The Bear's Chosen Mate is a wonderful journey to happily ever after. It was a joyful listen. I am sure it will be an amazing read. I can guarantee it is part of my planned binge read.

Starts strong with a good premise and engaging characters but fades in the middle and ends on over-the-top hearts and flowers.

When you begin a new series, even a spin-off a beloved one or one written by one of your favorite authors, there is always that fear or chance that you will be disappointed, but the Borealis Bears are shaping up to be awesome. I am so looking forward to seeing more of these sexy bears and getting to know more about their lives, after all who wouldn’t love three sexy millionaires that can also shift into huge, cute, furry polar pears?! James and Kaylee captured my heart from the very beginning, each of them looking for something in the other that they were denying has been right in front of them from the very beginning. James has resisted the attraction to his best friend, but once he gives his heart and beast free-reign it’s obvious that the only choice for a mate for him is his Kaylee, Fate be damned. He’s an alpha, sexy and sweet bear with a heart of gold and enough charm to have women throwing panties at him at ten paces, but he only has eyes for his woman and his willing to fight for her and fight her to keep their relationship. Kaylee is a bit of a scaredy-cat in the beginning, fighting and running from the emotions and passion for her man, but once he overcomes those things she let’s loose, she becomes the sensual and sexy beast that is the perfect mate for her bear. Her wit and sweetness marries well with James’s and you can see together that they will be a force to be reckoned with. The heat between these two is definitely unchartable and undeniable from the very second they are in one another’s orbit, but once they get their hands on one another you will need a cold shower just to be able to move forward with reading, guaranteed. I loved getting to see Kaylee and James find their way together and am looking forward to seeing more of them in the rest of the trilogy as James’s brothers find their mates. We did get a bit of a clue for Alex’s mating in the very end and I can see that one will be just as fiery if not even more so than James’s so look out! Another masterpiece Ms. Arend, keep up the magic!

I wish I had liked The Bear's Chosen Mate more. The set-up was good, the characters were likable, there was a nice blend of humour and drama, but, for whatever reason, it didn't really work for me. Oh well.

Shifters and mates

Arend has done it again. Perfect mix of banter, characters and scolding hot encounters. I only wish there was more to red! Bring on book 2

The Bear's Chosen Mate by Vivian Arend was a quick and fluffy read!

James Borealis and Kaylee have been friends since childhood and when James' Grandfather forces his grandsons to secure a forever mate James knows exactly who he wants by his side... Kaylee. A simple feel-good romance that delivers charming characters with minimal conflict.

Recommended!

A nice light pleasant read, cute characters, not a huge amount of plot or action going on, but cute story
