Very informative which I appreciate and I found it all very well explained when he was focusing on facts, but I found the actual way this book was written to be very annoying and I hated everything he added to those facts and it made the book a nightmare to read. I particularly hate it when in nonfiction authors add entire fictional stories of people who may or may not have existed, what jobs those imaginary people had, what they thought, what they said, their personalities and their clothing etc etc. and here half of the AIDS part was like that and it was a struggle to get through

I’m a graduate student studying epidemiology of zoonotic diseases (mostly arboviruses) and thought this book was a great introduction to zoonotic diseases, pathogen emergence, and spillover. Even as a scientist I learned a lot reading this and it’s refreshing to see it presented in this way. Also didn’t feel like the author was trying to claim to be a scientist and instead did a great job of just explaining the work of others and packaging it in an interesting way! Would highly recommend to anyone wanting an intro to zoonotic diseases from a personal interest standpoint

UM this was so good... extremely entertaining science writing, SCARILY accurate predictions about the next big one. i love learning about disease

Super informative about the history of epidemiology techniques and zoonosis that occurred throughout history.

adventurous challenging informative medium-paced

If you like dry sarcasm with a touch of clinical and scientific expertise, and doom then this is your book.
adventurous dark informative reflective tense slow-paced

Fascinating. There was one chapter that was a bit technical and hard for me to get through, but on the whole it's an excellent read in layman's terms for us non scientists.
