Didn’t really vibe with the narration style. Found it difficult to follow with the tangents.

Helen Oyemi’s writing is compelling but layered, dense, and nonlinear in a way that killed my motivation. May revisit this one someday when I’m feeling more ambitious.

A surrealist, ridiculously fun narrative adventure, but too obscure in its meanings

Well this was certainly a book - a jumble of characters run around to no great purpose with a personification of the city of Prague. Barely a story, no answers or revelations, all over the place. I think it’s trying to be clever and abstract, but if it’s attempting to say anything, I have no idea what it was. You get the impression she’s being wacky and quirky for the sake of it, and that this is less a novel and a bunch of short stories smushed together for the sake of showing off how many references to other works the author can make.

This is just a collection of things that happen and god knows why - pointless and not really enjoyable. The kind of book where I don’t know if I’m stupid or it’s stupid.
