A great exposure to a range of opinions on the state of capitalism as we know it and the future. I will be reading more of the Munk Debates series. In 100 pages, you can learn so much. It’s like reading an essay summarising current views on capitalism but much more digestible and with multiple layers of rebuttal. Would highly recommend.

Being exposed to ideas different than your own is good practice for thinking things through. That is the strong point of this book/this debate. Unfortunately the format also demands a reduction of complexity in the ideas that are presented, by time restriction and the need to be spontaneous. The suggestion of not framing it as a debate and making it a discussion directed to solve a problem and find solutions, proposed at the end by Varoufakis and Vanden Heuvel, is, I think a good one and it would have been a productive discussion that way as well.
I missed some of the proposals I recently encountered in Banerjee and Dufflo's Good economics for hard times, which is why I had to lower the rating.
